We all know that regular pump maintenance is vital for facilities. Yet all too often, facility team members are maxed out handling the daily details of their job and are not able to be as diligent about maintenance as they prefer.

This is why facilities in the Greater Boston area are turning to BMI. We have a comprehensive preventative pump maintenance program that is backed by over 60 years of combined pump and motor repair experience and specialized training. Our pump techs know the intricacies of different pump systems and can spot potential issues before they escalate into costly problems.

Our comprehensive program includes:

Preventative Pump Maintenance:

A 13-point inspection and report of each pump in your facility is performed on a quarterly or bi-annual basis. The frequency depends on the type of pumps in your facility, their usage, environmental conditions, and manufacturer recommendations. For critical or heavily-used pumps, a quarterly schedule is highly recommended.

Laser Alignment:

pump laser alignmentA laser alignment and vibration analysis of facility pumps should be conducted at least once a year. This serves a benchmark to note trending conditions and allows for regular monitoring of pump performance and the early detection of potential issues. For pumps that are heavily used or are critical to operations, more frequent inspections may be necessary. In such cases, quarterly or semi-annual alignments and analyses might be appropriate to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Sand Filter Preventative Maintenance:

A 5-point inspection and service of your sand filters is conducted on an annual basis to ensure they are running smoothly and to remove particulates from water that can cause seal failure and metal damage. This typically includes: re-bedding the vessel with a new media kit, replacing the vessel cover gasket, control cartridge filter and O-ring gasket, bringing the sand filter back on line and backwashing it four times, and adjusting the pressure differential as needed. In addition, sand filters often need to be replaced every few years.

Having a preventative pump maintenance program in place ensures you have professional eyes on your critical pump systems on a routine basis. This helps prevent costly breakdowns by proactively identifying potential issues, ensures optimal performance and energy efficiency, extends equipment lifespan, enhances safety by addressing potential hazards, maintains compliance with regulations, and ultimately saves money by avoiding expensive repairs and downtime.
